Make a Difference

Help to make a difference with Queenslanders!

Anyone who has travelled internationally would be aware of how a seemingly small amount of money in Australia can make the world of difference to someone’s life in less-fortunate countries. With this in mind, Queenslanders has signed up at Kiva.org to start lending to poverty-stricken entrepreneurs who need a bit of a hand in the form of small loans. And we want you to join our lending team!

Our goal is for Queenslanders and our members to make 50 loans through Kiva. That’s 50 lives we can improve by helping to alleviate poverty – not by providing a handout, but instead providing the capital required to establish a small business somewhere in the developing world.

Kiva (which means ‘unity’ in Swahili) is a non-profit organisation that have revolutionised the idea of micro-finance, encouraging people to make small loans of as little as $25 to change people’s lives by helping them pull themselves (and their families) out of poverty.

Being in the business of banking that’s personal, Queenslanders just can’t pass this up! Kiva has already facilitated loans that have changed the lives of over 630,000 people across the globe, with a staggering 98.87% of loans being repaid in full once the recipient gets on their feet.
