The Woolworths group of companies has announced the sudden implementation of a decision not to allow customers to press ‘credit’ from April 15 when paying for items with a Visa Debit Card. The removal of the ‘select credit’ choice for payment means customers will be paying a fee to Woolworths on each transaction where ‘savings’ is selected.
Unfortunately, Financial Institutions including Queenslanders Credit Union were not consulted and have been given minimal notice of this decision, which affects all Australians that use a Visa Debit Card.
The Woolworths group of companies that this decision applies to includes Big W, Woolworths Supermarkets, Safeway Supermarkets, Woolworths Liquor, Safeway Liquor, BWS, Dan Murphy’s, Dick Smith, Tandy, Woolworths Petrol, Safeway Petrol, Caltex Woolworths petrol outlets, Thomas Dux and ALH bottleshops.
Members wishing to exercise their choice of payment and select ‘credit’ to avoid paying fees to the Woolworths Group are advised to consider shopping elsewhere.
