Full scheme debit switched back on at Woolworths
Date: 7/09/2023
Description:
Woolworths has reversed its 2010 decision to stop allowing customers to press the ‘credit’ button when making debit card transactions at its stores.
This is great news for Queenslanders members with a Visa Debit card, as they can now once again avoid transaction fees by pressing ‘credit’ at the EFTPOS terminal.
Previously, Woolworths had made it impossible for customers to select ‘credit’ on debit cards to save costs for the supermarket chain, which includes Big W, Safeway, BWS, Dan Murphy’s, Dick Smith, Thomas Dux and Caltex Woolworths petrol outlets.
"We are very pleased that all our customers will now be able to pay the way they want when shopping with us," the company said in a statement.
Queenslanders has welcomed the reversal as a victory for consumer choice.
