Making a difference for International Credit Union Day
Update 20/10/14: Funds have been tallied and the total amount to be donated is $1,953.25!
Queenslanders Credit Union today celebrated International Credit Union Day by once again supporting development agency CUFA with their annual MAD (Make A Difference) Day initiative.
MAD Day is a chance to make a difference by raising important awareness and funds for developing communities.
Credit union customers supported the cause by entering guessing competitions or purchasing raffle tickets from their local branch.
The raffle will be drawn on Monday with fantastic prizes up for grabs, all donated by local businesses. Prizes include a two course lunch for two people at Summit Restaurant, Event Cinemas movie tickets, Arbonne exfoliating scrub, wine, chocolates, and much more.
Staff this year really got into the MAD spirit. While a bake sale was held in the head office, staff in the branches went fancy dress.
Hippy fever took over Booval, with the happy hippy staff offering to take photos with customers in exchange for donations. Meanwhile, the Brisbane branch was feeling the Hawaiian heat, and staff in Yamanto came to work as MAD Hatters!
The goal for Queenslanders is to raise enough money to sponsor an individual to change their life through participation in the CUFA Village Entrepreneur Program.
The three year proram helps villagers in Cambodia and Timor Leste to lift their families out of poverty by starting a small sustainable business.
