UPDATE 8/4/15: Thanks to everyone for your very generous donations. We have raised $3,470.30 and counting! All initial donations were sent immediately to help with the disaster recovery. Donations made from now will go to CUFA’s Vanuatu Rebuild Effort to assist our partner communities in Vanuatu to increase their access to livelihood opportunities through local credit unions.

Queenslanders Credit Union is urging the community to do what they can to help the tens of thousands of people in Vanuatu who are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance.

Funds are being raised to help provide those affected by Cyclone Pam with shelter, food and medical care.

Donations over $2 are tax deductible and can be made at any branch of the Credit Union or online (see details below).

The appeal is personal for the team at Queenslanders, as one of their colleagues grew up in Vanuatu and still has family members in the country who have been affected.

After putting out a donation box in the Brisbane branch on Friday morning, staff were overwhelmed to see two donations of $50 made by generous customers within the first half an hour.

CEO John Weier has provided an exciting incentive for his team to donate to the cause. A free day off work is up for grabs, with a chance to win given for each staff donation of $10.

100% of money will be added to the total raised by the international development agency for the credit union industry, CUFA, and given to the Red Cross Cyclone Pam Appeal.
