Ditch your pen for a PIN
From 1 August you will no longer be able to sign for most credit and debit card transactions. Instead, you will need to enter a four digit PIN.
This change is part of an industry-wide move to replace signature with PIN for in-store transactions.
How to prepare for the change ahead
- If you know the PIN on your Queenslanders Visa Debit card, it’s a good idea to start using it now instead of signing to authorise transactions.
- If you don’t remember your PIN, you will need to request a new one. We will place one bulk order of new PINs for all customers who need one. To order your new PIN, please call us during business hours on
1800 753 377 before Friday 20 June. - If you miss the cut-off to order your new PIN over the phone, you will need to bring your card into one of our PIN change capable branches (Brisbane CBD, Booval or Townsville) where we can issue you a new PIN on the spot (you can even choose your own number).
Using your PIN is safer than signing and helps protect against fraud due to lost or stolen cards. This is because there is only a one in ten thousand chance of someone guessing your PIN, but your signature is right there for all to see.
